books - beach imageIt is surprising to discover how few people have managed to read all the way through the whole Bible, even those who have been Christians for many years.

The Bible itself tells us that God’s Word is essential for daily living and is suitable for both correction and inspiration. (2 Timothy 3:16), so we want to encourage you with a challenge for 2015, to read through the whole of the Bible in the year, or better still to read parts of it through several times.

I was once challenged by God when I was asked to be a guarantor for some business colleagues; when I was reading Proverbs 6 he showed me that this was a risky idea and that I should think again about what I had agreed to or face the consequences. It hadn’t occurred to me that I was doing a wrong think until I saw it written in the Bible; what other things do we do which are contrary to the guidance given in God’s word and which put us at risk.

The more of God’s word that we read the better equipped we will be for the challenges of life and it will help us make adjustments to the way that we live so that we become better people.
