Generous Middleton – Tesco collections 3-5th July 2014

Middleton Central Foodbank Tesco collection 5th July 2014 - 73 crates - smllLast weekend saw volunteers from Middleton Central Foodbank collecting food donations in the town centre Tesco Extra Store to help stock up the new foodbank that is due to open at the Lighthouse Project  in the next few weeks.

The generous people of Middleton did not disappoint, and as a result of their kindness the foodbank collected over 73 crates of food donations – thank you!

It was a humbling experience for the volunteers who were manning the three days of collections under the hash tag banner of #everycanhelps.

Many donors shared their own encouragements of how they too had been helped in their own circumstances thought the kindness of others.

There was a true sense of community kindness and compassion for others who find themselves in difficult situations.

The Middleton Central Foodbank is the work of several local churches working together to tackle food poverty, and the new centre will be open in the next few weeks as the foodbank enters the last stages of preparations to open.
